The Diary of Rachel Leech 1856

About this diary:
This is the diary of Rachel Leech, written from 1st January to 24th April 1856. The diary entries offer a personal insight into a private home, detailing daily domestic duties and tasks in minute detail. Rachel hints at the harsh nature of her husband, who disciplines his family members as head of the household. During the period of her diary Rachel celebrates her 57th birthday and refers to the 'great wonder' that she still lives following a long period of illness. This diary has been transcribed and edited by Gemma Lamb.

How to use the diary books:
